How To Keto The Right Way

by Sara Banta | Feb 4, 2021 | Articles, Keto

Keto is a buzzword that has now proven to be here to stay. Keto is not just another fad diet, it has proven long term health benefits. I have been on my own health journey, and made all the mistakes you have made. I have learned there are definitely ways to do Keto right and wrong!

The ketogenic diet is based on a high fat, low carb and sugar diet. With that, many people stick to “dirty keto” and incorporate foods that fit in that category but are unhealthy. It has been proven that some of the foods below cause more inflammation and DNA damage than actual sugar and carbs. What’s more, they can actually raise your blood sugar more than sugar itself!

6 Foods to Avoid On Keto

1. Wrong Oils

You want to avoid the following: Canola oil, rice bran oil, sunflower oil, corn oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, safflower oil, grapeseed oil, and peanut oil. They are more inflammatory and toxic than sugar and they stay in the body for a year. Sunflower and safflower oil can be healthy if they are cold pressed. I recommend using Organic cold pressed olive oil, butter, ghee, avocado oil, duck fat, and coconut oil.

2. Fish Oil

According to Ben Azadi, 83% of Fish oil is rancid by the time it gets to the shelf. The rest of it goes rancid when it is in the body.  It can cause inflammation in the body.

3. Fake Sweeteners

You want to avoid sucralose and aspartame. They can not only trigger an insulin response and increase your appetite, but they also can damage your gut and lead to cancer. I recommend using stevia, monk fruit and xylitol.

4. Pasteurized Cow Dairy

Unfortunately most people have an inflammatory response to pasteurized dairy because it is heated at high temperatures to kill pathogens which also kills the enzymes to break down the food. This can lead to Leaky Gut and inflammation. Many people notice an improvement in their bowel movements, sinuses and inflammation when they eliminate dairy.

5. Diet Soda

Many think drink diet soda and incorporating fake sweeteners are “Keto friendly,” when in fact, diet soda not only turns the body extremely acidic which leads to a breeding ground for viruses, bacteria, candida and other foreign pathogens, but also leads to chronic pain, accelerated aging, a compromised immune system, and increased sugar cravings.

Focus On Protein First

The one mistake I made was focusing on eating fat and limiting my protein.  As soon as I focused on eating the protein, filling in with green vegetables and eating just enough fat to satiate my appetite, my results improved dramatically. Furthermore, some of you, like me, may have a genetic disposition to not being able to metabolize fat efficiently. Changes in stool to light color, floating, and greasy.

Eat the Right Vegetables for Your DNA

Some “healthy” foods like broccoli, garlic, onions, kale, spinach and cauliflower are staples in the low carb keto diet world. However, many of you, like me, don’t have the DNA to metabolize Sulfur and Oxalate containing foods. If you eat these foods and can’t break them down, you will feel bloated and lethargic, hit a weight loss plateau, and experience water retention. If  you don’t know if you have sulfur or oxalate metabolism issues, look for these signs when you eat those foods.

Fill in with Fat (Depending on Your Tolerance)

It is a misnomer that you have to eat a high fat diet in order to be in ketosis.  Your body has thousands of fat calories stored to “snack” on throughout the day and night and stay in the ketogenic state. Additionally, you may have genes that inhibit efficient fat metabolism. This is why some may try a high fat keto diet with no results.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may suffer from fat malabsorption:

  • Changes in stool to light color, floating, and greasy
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or excessive fullness after eating
  • Bumps on the back of the arms
  • Acne
  • Yellowish skin tone
  • Very Dry Skin

  • Hormonal imbalances like PCOC or PMS
  • Strong body odor
  • Edema
  • Right scapula pain
  • Gallbladder pain (right side under ribs)
  • Gallstones
  • Gallbladder removal

Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting is defined as squeezing your eating window into a 2-12 hour period. The benefits of Intermittent Fasting include:

  • Helps promote Insulin Sensitivity – Optimal insulin sensitivity is crucial for your health, as insulin resistance or poor insulin sensitivity contributes to nearly all chronic diseases. It is actually too much insulin floating throughout the body that causes weight gain, hormonal imbalances, diabetes, high blood pressure, and speeds up aging.
  • Normalizes ghrelin levels, aka the “hunger hormone”
  • Increases the rate of HGH production, which slows the aging process
  • Lowers triglyceride levels and the risk of Heart Disease
  • Helps suppress inflammation and fight free radical damage
  • Helps retain Muscle Mass while burning fat
  • Reverses Diabetes quickly
  • Switches your body into Fat burning mode

Supplement To Improve Your Results with Keto

Unfortunately our food sources are depleted of the nutrients our ancestors enjoyed, and our modern day lifestyle has put unnatural demands on your physical and mental bodies so that we need supplementation to feel our best. Below are options that will help you reach your health goals more effectively and in less time.

Accelerated Keto®™

This is the only ketone supplement that not only puts you into ketosis or the fat burning state within 30 minutes, but it also provides steady (non-jittery) energy throughout the day, de-fats your liver, increases ATP production in the cells, and teaches your body to burn its own fat stores.

Wild-Lytes

Wild-Lytes goes beyond the scope of a simple electrolyte formula to target the effects of daily stress, inflammation, adrenal fatigue and immune disruption at a cellular level, providing a foundation for whole-body health. Unlike many electrolyte supplements, nothing in this formulation regulates phase one liver detoxification or blocks sulfation pathways for oxalate metabolism.

Wild-Lytes helps with the following:

  • Hydration & Electrolyte Balance
  • Detoxification
  • Muscle Cramping & Fatigue
  • Immune Function
  • Mineralization
  • Heart & Cardiovascular Function
  • Oxalate, Sulfur & Uric Acid Metabolism
  • Adrenal Function
  • Lymphatic Metabolism
  • Histamine Flairs
  • Joint Pain and Swelling
  • Blood Sugar Regulation

Acceleradine®

This is the only monoatomic (single atom) iodine supplement charged with Scalar frequency to improve metabolism and thyroid health, in addition to detoxing the body from radiation and heavy metals. Those toxins can be hindering energy and weight loss in addition to causing hypothyroidism.

Berberine HCL

This helps support pathogenic and bacterial balance in addition to improving blood sugar, digestion and weight management.

Beta TCP

Helps support fat metabolism by supporting both healthy bile flow and the normal bile acid to cholesterol conversion. It contains both digestive and antioxidant enzymes (vitamin C), along with Taurine and organic beet concentrate.

Choline & Inositol

This may help facilitate the burning of stored fat and have been shown to prevent abnormal or excessive liver accumulation of cholesterol and triglycerides. It also may help support healthy methylation and hormonal balance.

P-5-P

Helps support healthy sulfation and oxalate metabolism. In detail, P5P is required for proper absorption of B12 and magnesium, and for the production of gastric HCl. It is an important coenzyme in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and the elongation of essential fatty acids. It is required for the production of antibodies and red blood cells. P5P facilitates the release of glycogen (used in energy production) from the liver and muscles. In addition, P5P helps maintain the balance of sodium and potassium, which regulates body fluids and promotes the healthy functioning of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
