The DNA Diet Explained

by Sara Banta | Jan 26, 2021 | Articles, Nutrition

I have discussed my journey testing various diets including the Paleo Diet, the Keto diet, the Carnivore diet, and even Vegan!

Not until I met Teri Cochrane and learned about the DNA Diet and the importance of my DNA in relation to which foods fuel my body (and which “healthy” foods actually harm my body, causing inflammation and Leaky Gut) did I realize what true optimal health was!

Many of you, like me, have a hard time processing sulfur containing foods or supplements that are supposedly healthy. Those include foods like garlic, onions, cabbage, broccoli, and even cauliflower. Additionally, many of you have a hard time processing foods with oxalates including spinach, kale, almonds and chocolate. I call this the DNA Diet.

Knowing these limitations and also knowing that cutting out processed foods and too much sugar that are detrimental and inflammatory to the body leads to a limited amount of foods that you are able to thrive on. I have learned about supplements that work with your body and open up those pathways to increase the digestion and nutrient absorption of those foods your body originally could not break down.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may have compromised sulfur metabolism:

  • Bloat, gas, malabsorption of nutrients
  • Allergies to sulfa-contain medications
  • Reactions to red or white wine
  • Reactions to garlic or eggs
  • Asthma or wheezing after ingesting food, especially dried fruit or foods with preservatives
  • Strong urine odor after eating asparagus
  • Arthritis, Tendonitis or Joint Pain
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or Irritable bowel
  • ADHD
  • Neurotransmitter imbalances, such as domaine, epinephrine, and serotonin
  • Skin rashes, including psoriasis

What’s more, is many of you may have tried the ketogenic diet and realized it makes you feel nauseous to eat more fat. You may have a compromised fat metabolism issue like me as well!

Proper fat metabolism and absorption is critical to the brain and cognitive function. However, consuming a diet high in fat can cause genetically vulnerable people to become fat-malabsorbed, which creates a state of not being able to properly metabolize fat, and this can clog the liver and intoxicate the whole system.

Knowing I am an advocate of the keto diet, I have learned to stay in ketosis with Accelerated Keto® and Intermittent Fasting launching me into ketosis, burning my own body fat for ketones, then focusing on a higher protein/vegetable diet, and using supplements to help digest dietary fat.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, you may suffer from fat malabsorption as well:

  • Changes in stool to light color, floating, and greasy
  • Strong body odor
  • Bumps on the back of the arms
  • Acne
  • Yellowish skin tone
  • Very Dry Skin
  • Hormonal imbalances like PCOC or PMS
  • Edema
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or excessive fullness after eating
  • Gallbladder pain (right side under ribs)
  • Right scapula pain
  • Gallstones
  • Gallbladder removal

What Supplements Can Help Improve Your Malabsorption Issues?

Not all supplements are created equal. The supplements below are all new to Accelerated Health Products. They take into account commonly overlooked genetic sensitivities and are free of oxalates and sulfur-containing compounds – common additives in standard supplements that have been shown to contribute to inflammation and poor microbial health which encourage the growth of pathogens and sparking immune irritation.

Wild-Lytes

Wild-Lytes goes beyond the scope of a simple electrolyte formula to target the effects of daily stress, inflammation, adrenal fatigue and immune disruption at a cellular level, providing a foundation for whole-body health. Unlike many electrolyte supplements, nothing in this formulation regulates phase one liver detoxification or blocks sulfation pathways for oxalate metabolism.

The formula includes:

  • Himalayan sea salt is mineral-rich and contains the natural electrolytes our body depletes through exercise, illness, and our everyday stress response.
  • Cilantro supports oxygenation of the blood and is a natural liver detoxifier, helping to alleviate adrenal fatigue and unburden our overtaxed immune systems.
  • Watermelon contains citrulline, a building block of nitric oxide—vital for cardiovascular function—and is rich in vitamins A, B6, and C, potassium, magnesium and l-arginine—an amino acid that manages blood supply to the muscles and can relieve muscle cramping and fatigue.

Each element is powerful on its own, but transformed in union, supporting cellular communication for optimal results.

Wild-Lytes can help balance and support:

  • Hydration & Electrolyte Balance
  • Detoxification
  • Muscle Cramping & Fatigue
  • Immune Function
  • Mineralization
  • Heart and Cardiovascular Function
  • Oxalate, Sulfur and Uric Acid Metabolism
  • Adrenal Function
  • Lymphatic Metabolism
  • Histamine Flairs
  • Joint Pain and Swelling
  • Blood Sugar Regulation
  • Skin Health

Wild-Lytes intentionally omits imbalancing ingredients to optimize epigenetic response for maximum efficacy and absorption. It is clean and pure – free from gluten, dairy, and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).

Stress Mover

Stress is a firestarter. From disrupting core bodily functions like digestion and homeostasis, to sparking conditions such as low energy, mood dysregulation and weight gain, research has linked states of prolonged stress to depression, gut distress, inflammation and general immune suppression. Stress Mover is a unique botanical blend that manages the body’s stress response, while working synergistically with your epigenetic tendencies to optimize their expression.

Its informed combination of calming amino acids and adaptogenic botanicals helps to regulate the production, distribution and metabolism of key hormones and neurotransmitters while supporting gut and immune system integrity for holistic renewal and everyday calm.

Stress Mover can help balance and support:

  • Stress Response
  • Adrenal Function
  • Digestive Function
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Gut Integrity
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Pathogenic Imbalances
  • Recurrent Candida
  • Hormonal Balance
  • Skin & Hair Health

Immune Mover

When daily stress, inadequate nutrition, and a lack of sleep or exercise combine to overtax the body, harmful pathogens can take hold and overwhelm our biological defenses, disrupting our immune function.

Immune Mover is a unique formula that combines 11 botanicals to fortify the body’s immune and digestive systems, while working synergistically with your epigenetic tendencies to optimize their expression.

Its intelligent blend of pure botanicals and powerful antioxidants rebalance the body through two mechanisms – facilitating a balanced biome in the digestive tract and fortifying immune system response, targeting pathogenic imbalance and immunity at the root.

Immune Mover can help balance and support:

  •  Immune System Response
  • Adrenal Function
  • Digestion and Absorption
  • Chronic Fatigue
  • Gut Integrity
  • Bacterial, Fungal and Parasitic Imbalances
  • Hormonal Balance
  • Recurrent Candida
  • Recurrent Strep Throat
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Skin and Hair Health

Berberine HCL

This helps support pathogenic and bacterial balance in addition to improving blood sugar, digestion and weight management.

Beta TCP

Helps support fat metabolism by supporting both healthy bile flow and the normal bile acid to cholesterol conversion. It contains both digestive and antioxidant enzymes (vitamin C), along with Taurine and organic beet concentrate.

Choline & Inositol

This may help facilitate the burning of stored fat and have been shown to prevent abnormal or excessive liver accumulation of cholesterol and triglycerides. It also may help support healthy methylation and hormonal balance.

P-5-P

Helps support healthy sulfation and oxalate metabolism. In detail, P5P is required for proper absorption of B12 and magnesium, and for the production of gastric HCl. It is an important coenzyme in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and the elongation of essential fatty acids. It is required for the production of antibodies and red blood cells. P5P facilitates the release of glycogen (used in energy production) from the liver and muscles. In addition, P5P helps maintain the balance of sodium and potassium, which regulates body fluids and promotes the healthy functioning of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.
